Turn Rejected Kraft Rolls into Recovered Revenue

We clear warehouse floor space by liquidating truckload volumes of off-spec, damaged, and "start-up" rolls that traditional recyclers refuse to touch.

  • Any Condition Accepted: Crushed cores, "starburst" ends, and moisture damage (up to 20%).

  • Mill-Direct Pricing: We bypass local scrap yards to route tonnage directly to repulping mills.

  • Nationwide Logistics: Rapid deployment of 53' Dry Vans or Flatbeds for bulk removal.

Logistics & Acceptance Criteria

Accepted Streams Logistics & Handling The "Hard No" (Disqualifiers)
Kraft Linerboard (KLB), Testliner, Corrugated Medium, Sack Kraft, Bleached Board (SBS). Minimum 40,000 lbs (Full Truckload). Clamp truck loading required at origin. Loose scrap paper (unless baled), LTL pickup requests, Poly-coated rolls (case-by-case).
Damage: Crushed cores, wet spots, telescoping rolls, transit damage. 53' Dry Vans preferred. Flatbeds available for side-loading heavy rolls. Hazardous chemical contamination, Bitumen/Asphalt laminated paper.

Solving the "Cull Roll" Bottleneck

If you are reading this, you likely have a "bone pile" of rolls taking up valuable square footage in your warehouse. Maybe a railcar leaked, damaging the outer layers of your linerboard. Maybe a forklift driver crushed the cores, making the rolls impossible to mount on a corrugator.

Generic recyclers look at these rolls and see "trash" because they lack the heavy-duty guillotine splitters required to process them.

Waste Optima sees feedstock.

We treat off-spec kraft rolls as a liquidation commodity, not waste. By aggregating volume and leveraging direct routes to pulping mills that need fiber, we turn a disposal cost into a revenue stream.

Why We Target "Ugly" Rolls

Market fluctuations often leave mills and converters with excess inventory that can’t be sold as prime. We specialize in moving:

  • Startup/Changeover Rolls: Material generated while calibrating machines.

  • Wet Strength Paper: Difficult to pulp for standard mills, but valuable to our specific network partners.

  • Obsolete Widths: Prime condition rolls that simply don't fit your current orders.

The Economics of Repulping

Stop paying landfill tippage fees for clean fiber. Even with water damage or structural deformation, the fiber inside the roll retains significant market value. We structure offtake agreements that account for the cost of transport and processing, often returning credit to your bottom line.

Kraft Paper Roll FAQs

Do you accept rolls with moisture damage?

Yes. Unlike standard recycling programs that reject wet fiber, we have outlets for water-damaged rolls, provided the material is not moldy or hazardous. We understand that transit damage happens.

My rolls have crushed cores and cannot be unspooled. Can you take them?

Absolutely. Crushed cores are the #1 reason for rejection at converting plants. Our downstream partners utilize industrial guillotine cutters to slice the rolls directly off the core for repulping, so the core condition is irrelevant to us.

What is your minimum volume requirement?

We operate strictly on a B2B bulk basis. We require a minimum of one Full Truckload (approx. 40,000 lbs) to initiate a pickup. We are equipped to handle ongoing volume from major mill outages or warehouse cleanouts.
